Timestamps and Paid Timestamps

In Infinite Catalog, we use a  Timestamp and Paid Timestamp to assign dates and times of transaction creation and remittance to transactions within the system.

Timestamp is the date and time at which a transaction took place. Paid Timestamp is the date and time you were paid for the transaction.

For royalty accounting purposes, we use the Paid Timestamp to determine where a transaction lands in a reporting period. For example, a transaction with a Paid Timestamp dated September 15, 2022 would land in the accounting for the 3rd quarter, or second half, of 2022. We use the Paid Timestamp to make sure royalties are paid out to the catalog first, before they are reported to payees.

Setting the Timestamp and Paid Timestamp of an import

For distribution sources with Timestamp and Paid Timestamp information reported in the data, our importers automatically map these values at import - however, some Timestamps and Paid Timestamps must be entered manually, or can be overwritten if necessary. You can set these in the timestamp fields when creating an import.

Please note - as a general rule of thumb, we typically use a day within the middle of a particular month (the 15th) for Timestamp and Paid Timestamp. This is so we can be sure the transactions fall within the desired period regardless of which timezone they are viewed in.
Checking Replace all values will overwrite all timestamps or paid timestamps in the data, otherwise only empty values will be replaced.

Updating the Timestamp and Paid Timestamp of an import

You can update an import's Timestamp and Paid Timestamp from the import's Transactions page. To do so:

1. Navigate to Royalties -> Data Imports and select the import you would like to update.

2. From the import landing page click  Transactions at the top of the screen. Click the blue Actions button and select Update Timestamps from the drop-down menu.

3. In the pop-up window, you can enter a new Timestamp and/or Paid Timestamp to assign to the transactions in this import.

4. Click OK to apply the updated timestamp date to the import's transactions.

Please note, this will update the timestamps for all transactions within an import. Use Filters to narrow down the transactions in your current view if you would only like to update timestamps for a specific set of transactions in an import.
