Compilation Contracts

Compilation releases with multiple artists - or more generally, releases with varied Track splits for different artists, producers, or featured artists - require a specific set of contracts in order to reflect the entire contractual picture of the Release within the system.

Contracts representing the respective Track split %s must be applied to all of the Tracks within a Release before our helpful Compilation contract tool can be used to apply these splits as pro-rated percentages across the Release contract to ensure that each payee receives their respective share of Release-level income and expenses.

To do so, follow the steps below:

  • First, each Track within the Release requires its own contract set at the Track level, representing the split % for that Track. To do so, navigate to the release in the Catalog Manager (Catalog -> Manager) or Release page (Catalog -> Releases) and click the Edit button. This will open up the Release Edit view containing the Track Edit menu as shown below:

  • Click the + next to the Contract field for each Track to a create Track contract and set the respective Track-level splits across each Track in the Release. Contracts can be re-used once created if applying multiple Tracks within the Release with the same split %s.
  • Once every Track has been applied with its respective contract, click Save at the bottom of the screen and you will be taken back to the Release page, with the Track Contract badge now appearing next to each Track.
  • From the Release page, select Create Contract -> Compilation as shown below:

  • Our Compilation Contract tool will automatically calculate pro-rated split percentages across the entire Release using the splits from each Track contract applied within the Release (specifically, each split divided by the number of tracks on the release).

  • Once you have clicked Save, the pro-rated Compilation contract will be applied to the Release - ensuring that each payee receives their repective share of both Track and Release-level income and expenses.
