Welcome to Getting Started with IC!
Welcome to our Getting Started with IC onboarding guide! The helpful documentation provided in our Getting Started with IC Knowledge Base guide takes an in-depth look at the processes of setting up and maintaining your catalog within IC - and if you're eager to jump right in, we've provided a helpful outline of these processes below as a quick primer of the basics. Follow these processes in order and you'll be well on your way to wrapping your first statements within our platform in a few easy steps!
Please note! This workflow is relevant for master-side (recording) data - if you're setting up a publishing catalog, we suggest reading our documentation here and following the instructions detailed here to get started.
- You'll want to start by importing your data source reporting on the Data Imports page of your account (Royalties -> Data Imports). Follow helpful instructions for each data source detailed here in our Knowledge Base. As you do so, our system will match unique metadata (ISRCs, UPCs, Artist and Release information) to automatically build your catalog in the Catalog Manager (Catalog -> Manager), so it's always best to start by importing data to easily get your catalog metadata set up in the system.
- After you've imported your data, you'll want to do Import Cleanup for each import displaying a Needs Cleanup badge. This process assigns the Items and their transactions from your data source imports to the corresponding Track or Release in your catalog. More about that process here.
- Next, navigate to the Catalog Manager (Catalog -> Manager) where you can begin creating contracts for the releases in your catalog. Our flexible system of contract application throughout IC can easily handle things like track splits for featured, or multiple, artists and producers as well as compilations and format / territory specific splits.
- After you've set up your contracts, you can easily add your Additional Transactions manually - things like expenses, advances, and other income not reported in your data source imports. You can do so one at a time or in bulk using our Additionals doc by following the instructions detailed here. If you have Starting Balances from your last royalty round prior to IC, there is helpful information about importing those here .
- You're almost there! The final step to wrapping your first royalty round in IC is to create a royalty accounting Period where you'll review Payee Summaries, generate Statements, log Payouts, and finally invite your payees to the platform! We recommend using the Period Wizard (found on every Period Dashboard) for this, as it will easily guide you through these steps while giving you a fantastic overview of all the work you've done.
In addition, our Getting Started module at the top of your catalog screen will guide you through these processes within the platform, and the documentation in the Getting Started with IC Knowledge Base is an excellent in-depth guide to these processes and can help answer questions you may have along the way. As always, our friendly Support team is here to help if you have any questions that need our expert help. Thank you, and happy onboarding!
